 Governor Proposes $7,224,307 reduction in State Aid to Sachem          

 In his budget proposal to the legislature today, December 16, Governor Patterson asked for a $698 million dollar reduction in state aid to education.  Sachem’s cut would be $7.22 million, a reduction of 7.06% from last year.  You can view all the details of his budget proposal by clicking on the NYSUT link where there is plenty of specific information in what his proposed cuts and recommendations are. Be aware that at this time, this is a proposal and that the executive proposal is almost never accepted at face value by the legislature.  At this time it is impossible to predict what will happen next, but the proposed loss is less than most people predicted.  As details become clear as to what will happen next, I will immediately share them with you.
